Booking Conditions

Welcome to Ducks and Drakes. To ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for all guests and staff, the following terms and conditions apply to all guests. By staying at our property, you agree to abide by these rules. Breach of any conditions may result in your booking being cancelled and having to vacate the property.

    • Check-in time: From 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM

    • Check-out time: Strictly by 10:00 AM

    • Early check-in or late check-out is not permitted without prior arrangement.

    • Use of hostel facilities outside these times requires payment of a $15 day rate, allowing access up to 12:00 PM.

    • Guests who overstay check-out without approval may be charged an additional night's stay.

    • Morning: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

    • Afternoon/Evening: 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM
      Please plan your arrival and any enquiries during these hours.

    • All late arrivals must be pre-planned, prepaid and pre-approved by contacting us on 06 758 0404.

    • Guests arriving after 8:00 PM without prior notice will be charged a $50 late check-in fee or risk cancellation of their booking.

    • We offer free luggage storage on your day of departure, but guests must leave the premises after check-out unless they’ve paid the day-use fee.

    • Day-use rate: $15, which allows facility access until 12:00 PM on the day of check-out.

    • Unauthorized use of the property after check-out will incur penalties.

    • All guests are required to respectfully maintain a clean and shared kitchen.

    • Wash, dry, and put away all dishes, pots, pans, and utensils immediately after use.

    • Leave all kitchen surfaces and cooking areas clean and tidy.

    • The kitchen closes at varying hours for daily cleaning.

    • A $20 cleaning fee will be charged if staff are required to clean up after guests.

    • For safety and comfort, no outside visitors are permitted on the premises at any time.

    • Any breach may result in cancellation of your booking without refund.

    • Returning to the hostel after check-out to use any facilities is not allowed, unless a day-use fee has been paid.

    • Guests must completely vacate the property after check-out time if no day-use arrangement is made. (Not withstanding our luggage storing conditions)

    • Guests must not move to another bed or room without staff approval.

    • Unauthorised bed changes will result in charges for both beds for the night.

    • This policy ensures accurate housekeeping and guest tracking.

    • Quiet hours are strictly enforced from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

    • Please respect fellow guests and staff by keeping noise to a minimum during this time.

    • No smoking, vaping or naked flames permitted inside the buildings. Immediate eviction without refund will apply if this rule is broken.

    • Designated outdoor smoking/vaping areas are available.

    • No excessive drinking or disorderly behaviour will be tolerated. Immediate eviction without refund will apply if this rule is broken.

    • No illegal drug use is allowed whatsoever on Ducks & Drakes property. Immediate eviction without refund will apply if this rule is broken.

    • All damage to hostel property must be reported to management immediately.

    • Guests are financially responsible for any willful or malicious damage caused.

    • Off-street parking is prioritised for cottage motel guests.  We do not guarantee parking for any guest.

    • Free street parking is widely available around the hostel.

    • Heaters must be turned off when leaving the room.

    • For fire safety and guest comfort, no drying of clothes on heaters or in dorm rooms whatsoever.

    • We have a zero-tolerance policy on:

    • Aggressive, abusive, or threatening behaviour

    • Racist, discriminatory, or intolerant attitudes

    • Ducks & Drakes is a safe space for all guests, regardless of race, religion, gender identity, or sexual orientation.

    • Any guest displaying unacceptable behaviour will be immediately evicted without refund.
